Corporate Coach Program
The Corporate Coach Program was developed to work with corporations with a large number of leaders – Fortune 1000 companies or Privately held companies with over 1000 employees.
The Challenge
Corporations who want to develop leaders and improve performance of key people discretely. CEO’s need a sounding board to talk about things that they can’t discuss with anyone else in the organization. Maybe there is a problem or challenge with an individual that needs to be addressed without public knowledge or exposure.
Smaller organizations that need to be discreet in getting help for a leader or manager. Boards, who like their CEO, but know that there are some issues that need to be addressed.
Working with a Corporate Coach, the CEO has a sounding board for issues with in the organization without having to deal with HR or put someone on the spot for leadership development. It is a vehicle to help people without making a big deal about it within the organization.
Everyone can benefit from coaching. A coach looks at situations objectively and can tell people the truth when relationships might be strained otherwise. Having an objective third party lets people get down to the real reasons why there are issues, and can offer solutions or suggestions on how to resolve those issues.
The Corporate Coach becomes a trusted advisor who can provide sound direction when the path is not clear. The coach also creates accountability to making the changes necessary to get the desired results.
How it can help
The hindering issues get brought to light and dealt with, without any criticism or judgment. Issues are dealt with objectively with clearly defined outcomes and measurements.
A sense of improved confidence and positive direction as a result of making progress on issues that could be holding people back from reaching a higher degree of their potential. Another outcome is improved performance and better results by addressing the issues head on, developing a plan of action and implementing the plan with clear accountability and measurement.
This is all accomplished discreetly and without anyone else’s knowledge unless the client makes it known. By using an outside person, relationships are maintained and not damaged by dealing with uncomfortable situations.
A success story
In working with one C-Level executive who had a hard time keeping commitments and was quickly losing the respect of his team, the corporate coach was hired to help this person be more effective in managing their time and delegating more so that they could focus on the most important things.
The corporate coach worked with this person for 6 months. Over that time the team was more productive and communication was much improved between the client and their team. The coach helped the client develop and implement a time management process that improved productivity and freed up time for the client to spend more time with their direct reports and peers. This resulted in improved perceptions of the leader and their department.
Step 1 – Assessments
1. A DISC profile to understand the behavioral tendencies that might be impacting performance
2. A 360-degree survey to determine perceptions of the individual and identify points of focus for the coaching
Step 2 – Leadership Development
1. A 10 week leadership development program that helps ensure that the executive is equipped with the leadership skills needed to be effective in their role. Also implement 90-planning and goal setting process.
Step 3 – Ongoing Coaching
1. Two (2) one-hour meetings face-to-face or over the phone to discuss progress and goals. These meetings are focused on the most important issues. A review of identifies metrics and accountability is established.
